The 5 Summer Sessions I Can’t Stop Thinking About (including one I’m still hoping to shoot)
Summer isn’t just a season—it’s a feeling. Sticky fingers, sun-warmed skin, laughter echoing down sidewalks. And if there’s one thing I know as both a mom and a photographer, it’s that these moments don’t last forever.
Here are some summer session ideas that fill my creative cup and help families like yours stay present, playful, and connected—plus one I haven’t captured yet, but would love to with you.
1. Sunrise on the Beach
The beach is quiet, the light is soft, and your family is just waking up—together. These sessions feel like a deep breath at the beginning of a summer day, where everything feels possible. Are you expecting? This lighting is ah-mazing.
3. Pool Sessions
Whether it’s cannonballs or floaty lounging, pool sessions are packed with personality. You bring the sunscreen, I’ll bring the camera—and together we’ll capture the fun that only summer can offer.
4. Ice Cream Date
Sticky smiles, sidewalk puddles, and a little bit of sweet rebellion. Ice cream sessions are short, simple, and full of real-life charm. These are especially great for little ones who can’t sit still (and don’t want to!).
5. Bucket List: Backyard Sprinkler Session
This is the one I’m still dreaming of. Picture your kids running through the sprinkler in their swimsuits, hair dripping, laughter pouring out in waves. It’s the kind of moment we all lived as kids—and the kind we’ll want to remember forever. First family to say yes to this one? You’re getting a little surprise from me.
